For our dogs, proper digestive function is critical to their overall well-being. In addition to processing nutrition, the digestive tract also houses many important aspects of immune function. When the digestive tract becomes unbalanced, whether from stress, illness, improper diet, medication or surgery it can be a long path back to finding balance and proper function. Some of the most common digestive conditions that dogs face include: flatulence, diarrhea, food allergies, leaky gut (Dysbiosis), post-surgical infections, antibiotic therapies, and gastrointestinal disorders (GI Disorders).
maxxidigest+ utilizes the strongest pet-specific probiotic, Pediococcus acidilactici, as the active probiotic to help re-populate the digestive system as efficiently as possible. P. acidilactici is proven to survive in the harsh acid conditions that are unique to dog’s systems, allowing them to thrive in the intestines and begin to restore balance for digestion and immunity. This makes Pediococcus acidilactici the best probiotic for dogs.
maxxidigest+ is safe to give alongside other medications including antibiotic treatments. Commonly antibiotic treatments are known to disrupt proper probiotic function in both pets and humans, leading to stomach upset, GI tract infections such as urinary tract infections, and yeast infections. maxxidigest+ prebiotic and probiotic formula allow for efficient probiotic repopulation to get your beloved dog back on track.
Unlike traditional digestion supplements that only contain probiotics in pill or chewable form, our enzyme powder contains both probiotics and prebiotics.
Prebiotics, in the form of flax, sunflower and sesame, provide valuable nutrition for the probiotics to take hold and begin to flourish within the digestive tract. This allows the probiotics to begin to clear out damaging build up, permitting medicinal ingredients within maxxidigest+ and outside medications to work efficiently.
maxxidigest+ is also reinforced with a generous portion of healthy and naturally occurring digestive enzymes and antioxidants, purposefully picked to their ability to further support digestive function and ease overactive or inflammatory responses throughout the body.
With maxxidigest+ just sprinkle the daily dosage over two meals a day, allowing for the maximum absorption of all ingredients. Our powder formulation allows you to give the exact amount needed, making it easy to increase or decrease at the recommendation of your veterinarian.
We recommend doubling the daily dosage for the first few weeks of supplement usage while getting the condition regulated.
Dogs have a higher acid level within their stomach, with pH levels between 1 and 2.
Many of the probiotics that are valuable to humans, cannot survive in the harsh environment within dog’s stomachs and continue on to their GI tracts. Which is why we specifically choose P. acidilactici, over Bifidobacteria and Lactobacillus, as our main probiotic.
P. acidilactici is beneficial bacteria that naturally exists in human and animal gastrointestinal (GI) tracts. It belongs to General Regarded As Safe (GRAS) from US Food and Drug Department (FDA) perspectives.
Animal research has confirmed that P. acidilactici is not only helpful to alleviate the drug side effects when administered together with drugs treatment. It also helps dogs to accelerate their recovery from acute or chronic diseases. It supports a healthy inflammatory and immune response in the intestines and has been proven to decrease the presence of pathogenic (harmful) bacteria.
Additionally, we’ve specifically selected L-Glutamine as our amino acid to help strengthen the intestinal lining, easing leaky gut and inflammation.
Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) for its support to proper autoimmune function, and N-Acetyle-D-Glocosamine (NAG) for its proven support for osteoarthritis and inflammatory bowel diseases including ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease.
All the additional ingredients within maxxidigest+ support your dog’s healthy GI and immune function.
When faced with health concerns that are impacting your dog’s sensitive stomach, it can be difficult to choose a path. Especially if stomach issues are being caused by medicine intended to help with other health concerns.
With maxxidigest+ we understand the interrelated nature of your dog’s digestive tract, and take its role seriously. maxxidigest+ combines ingredients proven to restore digestive health by stabilizing the pH level in the gut and repopulating the GI tract with healthy probiotic to improve mucosal lining.
But even more than that, maxxidigest+ offers relief from diarrhea, helps with food sensitivities and allergies.
Even dogs with healthy digestive tracts can benefit from maxxidigest+, it’s safe for everyday and long-term use.
And in our powder base designed to be given easily with meals, it’s an easy way to provide essential amino acid and antioxidant reinforcement valuable to even healthy dogs.
When the digestive tract becomes unbalanced, whether from stress, illness, improper diet, medication or surgery it can be a long path back to finding balance and proper function. With maxxidigest+, our advanced therapeutic formula supports recovery for both digestive health and immune support, so that your dog can be back to tip top shape quickly and easily.

The Benefits of Probiotics for Dogs
What makes P. Acidilactici Different to Other Probiotic Bacteria?
Compared to conventional probiotic bacteria (like Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus), Pediococcus acidilactici is less sensitive to oxygen exposure and elevated temperature.
Pediococcus acidilactici can survive in temperature up to 65°C and is able to grow under aerobic and semi-aerobic conditions.
This makes Pediococcus Acidilactici More Stable as Probiotic
What’s more, due to their resistance to acidic environment, P. acidilactici is able to survive exposure to dogs’ stomach acid and therefore allows for delivery to GI tracts for maximum health effects.
Simply put, probiotics are not about quantity but quality. You need much less volume of Pediococcus acidilactici as they survive the stomach acid and are therefore guaranteed to make it to the GI tracts for maximum health benefits.
Pediococcus acidilactici has over more conventional probiotic bacteria. The stomach acid in our dogs and cats is more acid than in us humans. Their pH level is between 1 and 2 but lower pH means higher acidity (humans pH is 5 on full stomach).
Only Pediococcus acidilactici survives the acid environment in our pets’ stomach. This is what makes Pediococcus acidilactici the best probiotic for dogs and cats.
That Pediococcus acidilactici is less sensitive to oxygen exposure and elevated temperature, also means that maxxidigest+ has longer shelf life than conventional probiotics for dogs.
maxxidigest+ not only contains the best probiotic bacteria for pets. We guarantee 1 billion cfu of Pediococcus acidilactici per serving at the date of expiry, not only at the date of manufacturing.
To achieve this, an extra 100 mg of Pediococcus acidilactici is included at the date of manufacturing or total 1.5 billion cfu. That’s 50% overage.
As we have learned, Pediococcus acidilactici (Mito5051TM is scientifically proven to survive through the gastric system. But how do they work for our dogs digestive and immune health?
Studies have confirmed that Pediococcus acidilactici is not only helpful to alleviate the drug side effects when administered together with drugs treatment. P. acidilactici also helps dogs and cats to accelerate their recovery from acute or chronic diseases.
“Animal research has shown that P. acidilactici is able to balance the intestinal microflora and reduce the risk of suboptimal health. Moreover, current results indicate that P. acidilactici is able to promote a healthy inflammatory response in the intestines, as well as support a healthy immune response. P. acidilactici produces several different antimicrobial compounds that lessen the number of pathogenic bacteria. It actively competes against Listeria” (Jarrow)*
* Pathogenic bacteria are bacteria that can cause infection
There are two types of glutamine but all glutamine found in food or supplements are L-Glutamine.
Glutamine is a non-essential amino acid (a building block for proteins) that is found naturally in the body. It has many supportive functions for the digestive tract.
Supplementation can improve digestive health and optimize immune system function (PetMD).
Glutamine serves as a primary energy source for the mucosal cells that lines the intestinal tract. Stress on the intestinal cells can increase the need for glutamine, e.g. due to chronic bowel diseases.
L-Glutamine builds and soothes inflammatory tissue in the gut lining. It repairs the damaged intestinal mucosal barrier stopping gut permeability, the leaking of large proteins into the bloodstream. It can also lead to better absorption of nutrients in the intestinal tract.
Glutamine may also reduce the gastrointestinal toxicity of some chemotherapy drugs and may minimize inflammation of the intestinal tract caused by radiation therapy (Withrow and MacEwen’s Small Animal Clinical Oncology)
Glutamine supplementation is commonly recommended for pets with acute or chronic bowel disorders including inflammatory bowel disease, chronic diarrhea, leaky gut syndrome, and irritable bowel syndrome.
MSM is the source of sulfur in the body.
It is maybe best known for its role in supporting joint health but MSM offers various other health benefits.
Glucosamine comes in different forms.
Glucosamine HCL and Glucosamine Sulfate are the best known but they are commonly used in quality joint supplements for dogs, like maxxiflex+.
N-Acetyl-D-Glucosamine, or NAG, is one more form of glucosamine and is found in the outer shells of shellfish.
NAG helps to protect the lining of the stomach and intestines, i.e. helps to maintain normal intestinal permeability.
N-Acetyl-D-Glucosamine is commonly taken for osteoarthritis and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease (PetMD).
Fucus vesiculosus (also known as bladderwrack) is an algae (seaweed) that grows in cooler oceans all around the globe.
Seaweed is packed with nutrients. It contains iodine, which is used to prevent and treat some thyroid disorders. It also provides iron, energizing B12, and dietary fiber, along with folate (folic acid) and riboflavin.
“That nutritional profile suggests that seaweed could help raise energy levels. The magnesium and seaweed’s fiber will help you avoid constipation. Some medical testing suggests brown seaweed can fight some cancers and infections” (Healthline).
Bromelain is naturally occurring enzyme sourced from pineapple .
It’s mainly used to ease pain and swelling, which is why you find bromelain in our maxxiflex+ dog joint supplement.
But that’s not all. Bromelain helps with many digestive problems too.
The digestive fluids in our dog’s and cat’s system destroy most orally ingested enzymes prior to them being absorbed. Bromelain however is a proteolytic enzyme, i.e. it has the ability to break down proteins.
This means that bromelain can help the body to digest food and absorb nutrients more efficiently, as well as effectively heal various issues in the gastrointestinal tract.
Bromelain is also a natural antihistamine, i.e. digests the histamine molecule. Histamine causes allergies so bromelain can help relief some of the most common allergy symptoms.
Papain is another popular digestive enzyme and works similar as bromelain in supporting digestive health in our pets.
Papain has also been shown to be as effective as aspirin as an analgesic and anti-inflammatory agent in a variety of medical conditions.
Papaya and pineapple are two of the richest plant sources of digestive enzymes. Papain and bromelain are the respective names for the proteolytic enzymes found in these fruits.
The primary use of proteolytic enzymes (like papain and bromelain) is as a digestive aid.
Digestive enzymes may help foil this so-called “leaky gut” problem. They can be helpful for a wide variety of other health conditions, especially food allergies (presumably by digesting the food so well that there is less to be allergic to), atopic (allergic) dermatitis, hairballs, arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, and autoimmune diseases (Total Health Magazine)
Digestive enzymes are crucial for normal digestion as they help us to digest our food. They are secreted by the salivary glands and cells lining the stomach, pancreas and small intestine. Digestive enzymes split the large, complex protein, carbohydrates, fat molecules into smaller ones.
maxxidigest+ contains the combination of three digestive enzymes (proteins): lipase, protease, and amylase.
As all dog owners know, grapes can be toxic for our dogs (no report of cats becoming ill from grapes but they are still unlikely to eat them).
The grape seed extract (vitis vinifera) and the oil of the grapes are however not toxic and actually offers important health benefits to both dogs and cats.
Grape seed extract is made from the crushed seeds of the grape (a byproduct of the wine manufacturing industry).
Cystine is not the same as Cysteine but both are amino acids.
Cystine plays an important role in protein synthesis; it helps determine the protein’s final shape.
Vinpocetine is used by humans to increase brain circulation, alertness, cognitive function, concentration, memory and mood, and to lower inflammation and oxidative stress
Study on rats show that cystine boosts the levels of an enzyme that removes fats from the bloodstream (Livestrong).
Taurine is an amino acid that supports the neurological development, helps to regulate the level of water and mineral salt in the blood, and has antioxidant properties.
Taurine has been shown to be beneficial for the heart function, but it but has many other benefits, including calming and stabilizing effect on the brain (which is why it is one of the key ingredients in our calming aid for dogs, maxxicalm).
Dogs can suffer from taurine deficiency, i.e. if the body does not produce enough of it.
“Taurine is found primarily in muscle meat, and is completely absent in cereal grains. The lack of taurine in the diet caused serious eye and heart diseases to develop” (Only Natural Pet)
Chromium (polynicotinate) is a trace element (metal) that helps keep blood sugar levels normal by improving the way the body uses insulin.
Supplementation of chromium may aid body fat loss, retain and build lean body mass, lower elevated blood sugar, and reduce blood cholesterol levels.
Chromium’s effect on dogs and cats has been studied both for weight loss and regulation of glucose in diabetics.
Chromium may be helpful in diabetic animals (especially cats) that are difficult to regulate on insulin (Pet Education)
Biotin (or Vitamin H or B7) is one of the eight vitamins that are found in the B-complex.
As well as help supporting and maintaining healthy skin and hair (which is why it is in our (maxxiomega), biotin is required for proper function of the enzymes in the body.
The powder base used in maxxidigest+ contains defatted flax, sunflower, and sesame seed fibre that also provides immune and hormone function properties.
This is a concentrated form of fiber supplying nearly double the lignan content from what is in whole flaxmeal.
The base in maxxidigest+ is not just filling, it has its own health benefits for dogs.
Lignans are a group of chemical compounds found in plants. Lignans are high in antioxidants and fibre, and have anti-estrogenic effects, i.e. may help to regulate the hormone levels.
Lignans offers various health benefits for our dogs. Being high in antioxidants, they support the immune system. While the hormone balancing properties of lignans means they are beneficial for both male and female animals that have been spayed or neutered.
But that’s not all… the base in maxxidigest+ also contains vital prebiotics
We always recommend starting slowly with any new supplement and gradually increase the amount given. This allows your dog to get used to the new ingredients, both the taste and texture, and helps to minimize the risk of any potential stomach upset.
The recommended maintenance dosage is shown on the back of the label. If you are using maxxidigest+ to treat a specific health condition, then you may want to increase the dosage while getting the condition under control.
The recommended saturation dosage is double the maintenance amount. You can reduce the dosage to maintenance dosage once the condition has improved. This is one of the many benefits of powder formulation. It is easy to adjust the dosage in line with your dogs need over time.
The easiest way to administer maxxidigest+ is to mix it in with your dog’s food. maxxidigest+ does not contain any artificial flavours, colours, preservatives or binders. It has a natural flavour and the vast majority of dogs happily eat their food when maxxidigest+ has been added to it.
However, there are always exceptions. If your dog is not accepting maxxidigest+ for some reason, please contact us directly and we will offer you some additional tips and support.
If we cannot together get your dog to happily accept his new supplement we will fully refund you.
Because no matter how effective maxxidigest+ is, it will not work if the dog is not taking it. Fortunetly, when we have had the opportunity to work with the owners we have in most cases been successful in getting the dogs to accept their supplements. Which is exactly what we both want. For your dog to feel better with the help of our products.
maxxidigest+ is a maxxipaws proprietary formula and there are a number of factors which make it different from most other digestive aids for dogs.
maxxidigest+ contains mix of ingredients which have been specially selected for their roles in supporting the digestive and immune system in our dogs.
